Choosing the right Thule Omnistor Awning for your VW Crafter
The age and size of your vehicle will impact which of the awning kit options you should choose, with all options detailed in the two sections below.
Standard size vehicles (which is H3 for 2017 to current vans, and H2 for 2007 to 2016 vans), have a choice between a roof-mounted or wall-mounted awning. All other vehicle heights should be combined with a wall-mounted option.

Will this awning fit my VW Crafter, no matter how old it is?
You bet! We've got options for all Crafters from 2007 onwards. Just make sure to select the right kit based on your van's year, height, and wheelbase when ordering.
I've got solar panels on my roof. Can I still fit an awning?
Absolutely. For vans with roof accessories, we recommend the wall-mounted options (TO 5200 for 2017+ vans, TO 4200 for 2007-2016 vans). These mount on the side, leaving your roof free for solar panels, pop-tops, or whatever else you've got up there.
How far out does the awning extend?
All Thule awnings for the VW Crafter have a 2.50m projection. That's a good 8 feet of covered outdoor space, no matter which length you choose.
Can I fit the awning myself?
While it's designed for straightforward installation, it depends on your DIY skills. The kit comes with all necessary adapters and detailed instructions. If you're handy with tools, you should be fine. If not, it might be worth getting a professional to do the honours.
What if I've got a left-hand drive Crafter?
No problem! While standard kits are based on right-hand drive vans with passenger-side awnings, we can sort you out with a left-hand drive adapter. Just give us a shout when ordering.
