How to choose the right Thule Omnistor Awning for your VW T5 or T6

Your VW van's wheelbase determines which awning size you'll need. Both options come with the necessary adapter.

Follow the guidance below to select the correct length for your van:

  • SWB T5 and T6 vans: 2.60m length awning with 2.00m projection
  • LWB T5 and T6 vans: 3.00m length awning with 2.50m projection

Please note: This kit is not designed for vans with an awning rail fitted.

Will this awning fit my VW T5/T6 with a pop-top roof

Absolutely! This kit is specifically designed for VW T5 & T6 vans with lift roofs but will also work with fixed roofs. The adapters mount on the edge of the roof and sidewall, so you don't need a roof rail.

How long is the awning, and how far does it stick out?

That depends on your van. For short wheelbase (SWB) T5 and T6 vans, you're looking at a 2.60m long awning with a 2.00m projection. If you've got a long wheelbase (LWB), it's 3.00m long with a 2.50m projection.

Is it a faff to put up?

Not at all. It uses an easy-to-use telescopic hand crank with a Rapid Gear system. Plus, the newly designed legs drop straight down when you wind it out, making setup a breeze and reducing the risk of scratching your van.

What colours does it come in?

You've got three choices for the cassette: White, Anodised (silver), or Anthracite (black). The actual awning fabric comes in a versatile Mystic Grey.

Can I add any extras to it?

You bet! It's compatible with Thule's QuickFit and EasyLink systems, and you can even pair it with a Thule Residence Tent for enclosed living space. There's also an optional Tension Rafter G2 available if you want extra stability.
