Seasonal poled full caravan awnings
Poled awnings are the traditional choice for a seasonal pitch, with rigid steel frames and heavier fabrics made to stay up for months. They take longer to pitch and are easier with two people.

A full size air awning gives you the floor space of a traditional full awning with an easier set up, because you inflate the frame instead of threading poles. Choosing the best full size air awning for your caravan comes down to size, season rating and budget, so check each model’s description.

Which full caravan awning size do I need?
Full awnings are sized by your caravan’s A-measurement, the length of your awning rail, and a good fit means a snug awning with no gaps along the side of the caravan. Measure your awning rail from the ground at one end, along the rail, to the ground at the other end, then match it to the size band for your chosen model, as bands differ between brands. Replacing an old awning? Check your A-measurement rather than assuming the same size. What is the best full caravan awning?
There isn’t one best full caravan awning, because it depends on how you camp. For a seasonal pitch, a heavy-duty poled awning is the usual choice, and the Camptech Atlantis DL has been our best-selling awning for the past two years. For regular touring, an air awning is quicker to pitch and easier to handle.
What size awning will fit my caravan?
Match your caravan’s A-measurement to the size band for the awning you want. On the Camptech Atlantis DL and Buckingham DL, for example, a size 15 suits 1000-1025cm and a size 16 suits 1025-1050cm. What is the easiest caravan awning to erect?
Air awnings are usually the easiest, because you inflate the frame instead of threading and joining poles. A poled awning takes longer, and a second person makes it much easier, especially on larger sizes. Either way, pitching is easier when the size is right, so check your A-measurement first.
How much does a caravan awning cost?
Price depends on the fabric weight, frame type, brand, size and season rating, so check the “From” prices above and the product pages for current prices. Heavier all-season fabrics, steel frames and larger A-measurements cost more.
What is the 6 metre rule for caravans?
It’s a fire safety spacing rule on many licensed UK caravan sites, where caravans are normally required to be 6 metres apart. The gap can be reduced where caravans are built from fire-resistant materials. Where an awning is used, no part of it should be closer than 3 metres to an adjoining caravan. Rules vary by site and licence, so check with your site before you pitch.
Should I choose an air or a poled full awning?
Choose air if you tour often and want quicker pitching and lighter handling. Choose poled if you stay for long periods and want a rigid frame built for a seasonal pitch. Some air awnings are rated for all-season use, so check each model’s description.
Can I leave a full caravan awning up all season?
Yes, if it’s a seasonal or all-season model. These use heavier fabric and stronger frames made for long stays. Touring awnings are lighter and are not designed to stay up for months, so check the season rating before you buy.
Does a full caravan awning come with a warranty?
Yes, every awning comes with a manufacturer’s warranty. Every new Camptech awning has a 12-month warranty held with us at CamperNation, and registering it with the Camptech Club gives you an extra 12 months, making 2 years from the date of purchase, with the extended period managed by Camptech. For other brands the terms are set by the manufacturer, so ask us about a specific model.
