Thule 6300 Awning FAQs
What size Thule 6300 do I need for my vehicle?
The 6300 comes in lengths from 2.6m to 5.0m. As a rule of thumb, choose an awning length that's at least 40cm shorter than your vehicle length to ensure proper fit and stability.
Do I really need a roof adapter?
Yes, it's essential. Different vehicles have different roof profiles, so you'll need a specific adapter to ensure safe, secure mounting. Tell us your vehicle make and model, and we'll help you choose the right one.
Can I install it myself?
While it's possible, we recommend professional installation. The awning needs to be properly aligned and secured to your roof, and incorrect installation could affect both safety and warranty coverage.
What's this about tension arms on longer models?
Models 3.75m and longer come with integrated tension arms and a third support leg as standard. For shorter models, tension arms are available as an optional extra. They provide extra stability in windy conditions.
How does the drainage system work?
The front profile includes channels that automatically direct rainwater to the sides. You can also slightly tilt the awning to speed up drainage if needed.
Will it rattle when I'm driving?
No - the 6300 includes special anti-rattling components and an aerodynamic design. It's specifically engineered to stay quiet on the road.
Can I add sides or a front panel?
Yes, the 6300 is compatible with Thule's full range of accessories, including the Panorama, QuickFit, and EasyLink systems.
Can I upgrade to motorised operation later?
Yes, the 6300 is designed to accept a retrofit motor kit. You can start with manual operation and upgrade when you're ready.
What happens if it gets windy?
The Quick Lock system and tension arms (on larger models) provide good stability, but as with any awning, we recommend retracting it in strong winds or if you're leaving your vehicle unattended.
How long does it take to set up?
With practice, you can have the awning fully deployed in about five minutes. The Quick Lock system makes leg adjustment particularly easy.
