The best caravan awnings depend on how you camp, so this 2026 guide is built on what we actually sell and what owners tell us. I started CamperNation and talk to caravanners about awnings every day, and the same question comes up most: which one should I buy?

Below are our top 10 caravan awnings for 2026, what owners like, and where they’ve had problems. Poled and air awnings both sell strongly here, with poled slightly ahead.

Best awnings for caravans: How I choose 

I look at six things: quality of materials (fabric, poles or air frame), looks, space, design details (the roof peak, windows, privacy blinds), ease of set up, and price. I weigh those against what sells and what owners say once they’ve used the awning.

Over recent months I’ve been asking customers for detailed feedback. 34 owners across eight models have replied so far, so treat what follows as real experiences rather than a survey.

Best seasonal and all-season caravan awnings

A seasonal awning stays up for months, so fabric, frame and weather resistance matter more than pitching speed. These are poled steel-frame models. Our seasonal awnings range has more if you want to compare.

Camptech Atlantis DL: best seasonal awning

The Atlantis DL is our best seller, and key sizes have sold out for stretches at a time. It comes in sizes 9 to 22 (850cm to 1200cm), uses Climatech SR21 all-season fabric on a 22/25mm steel frame, and includes a free carpet.

Owners like the build quality and the look. A first-time awning owner found it very easy to put up, and another kept theirs up all season on a breezy Welsh coast. Seven owners have replied, with some honest gripes: one had water pooling on the roof and stiff zips, another found the instructions unclear, and a third said the runner was too long for their rail. Camptech Buckingham DL: most space

At 3 metres (300cm) deep, the Buckingham DL is 60cm deeper than the Atlantis DL. It comes in sizes 10 to 21 (875cm to 1175cm) in extra heavy-duty Climatech SR21, with four front windows and external privacy blinds.

Of the ten owners who replied, eight praised the size or space. Several liked the zipped privacy blinds for keeping it cooler when the caravan is empty. Five mentioned roof or pole support, and some wanted extra roof poles. Four had zip problems, and two found it heavy to put up alone. One owner on a windy, wet island pitch said they couldn’t fault it. On a large size, I’d suggest two people pitch it and that you ask us about extra roof poles before ordering.

Camptech Savanna DL: best value seasonal awning

The Savanna DL is the seasonal awning I suggest when budget matters. It costs less than the Atlantis and uses Climatech SR18, a step below the SR21 on the Atlantis and Buckingham.

Owners talk about the windows. One enjoys the four door and window configuration for airflow in warm weather and for using it as a gazebo with the top open. A first-time camper who used theirs for 65 nights found it easy to pitch. Four owners replied. One added roof and wall poles for windier weather and found the zips ran better with a little silicone spray, one found it quite pricey, so compare it with the Atlantis at your size, and one wished half-window bars were standard.

Walker Concept: premium poled alternative

The Walker Concept is the step-up option, from £2,199, made by Walker Campingstyle in the Netherlands. The roof (525 g/m²) and walls (450 g/m²) are PVC All Weather coated on both sides, on a Steel MAX frame with 28mm roof poles. Every size has two extra roof support poles, with two extra front legs from size 990. All windows have blinds, there’s a double mudflap, and it carries a 24-month guarantee.

It comes in 240cm or 280cm depth and sizes 900 to 1160 (886cm to 1175cm A-measurement). Size 900 weighs around 60kg, so I’d plan on two people. I haven’t collected owner feedback on this one yet.

Best air (inflatable) caravan awnings

Air awnings use inflatable beams instead of poles, so they pitch faster. They add weight, and owners tell me feeding a large air awning through the caravan rail is the hard part. Browse all our caravan air awnings to compare.

Sunncamp Icon Air: best air awning

The Icon Air is our top-selling air awning and the roomiest we sell, at 325cm deep. Size 16 is the most popular. I only have one detailed reply so far, so treat this as one owner’s view: they liked the size, quality and sturdiness, found single-point inflation easy, and recommended an electric pump. The downsides were the weight when feeding it through the rail and fly screens that are swap-in panels rather than built in.

Sunncamp Esteemed Air: best value air awning

The Esteemed Air costs less than the Icon at the same size, and all four owners who replied called it spacious. It has a bigger footprint than many awnings, so check your carpet fits before ordering. One owner saw the roof dip slightly in the middle, and one wanted fly nets on the windows and doors.

Camptech Kensington Air: top Camptech air awning

Two of four owners praised the build quality. Two reported water pooling on the roof or end beams in heavy rain, and two found it heavy and slow to feed into the rail, especially in larger sizes. One wished they’d gone up a size, which is worth remembering if you’re between two.

Best touring caravan awning for budget

Best caravan porch and roll-out awnings

A porch awning covers your caravan door and a little more. A roll-out awning stays fixed to the caravan roof and unrolls like a canopy.

Camptech Starline 300 Air: best porch awning

Our top-selling porch awning, from £559. It’s 300cm wide and 250cm deep, weighs 18kg, and is made from Climatech 210D with two front windows and a 12-month warranty. It comes in three height ranges from 235cm to 280cm, so measure your caravan before ordering. I haven’t collected owner feedback on it yet.

Thule Omnistor 6300: best roll-out awning

Our top roll-out awning for caravans, from £775, and it also fits motorhomes and vans. It comes in lengths from 2.60m to 5.00m with a maximum projection of 2.50m, and weighs 20.6kg to 35.6kg depending on length. It’s roof-mounted (an adapter is required), operates manually with a motorised retrofit available, and has a quick leg lock, adjustable pitch and anti-rattle. Thule recommend professional installation. Thule tent awnings such as the QuickFit and Residence G3 can be added.

Best caravan awning for windy conditions

No awning is gale-proof, and I’d be wary of anyone who says otherwise. Here’s what owners have told me:

• An Atlantis DL owner on the Welsh coast kept it up all season in breezy conditions.
• A Buckingham DL owner on a windy island pitch said they couldn’t fault it.
• A different Buckingham owner had theirs collapse three times in moderate wind, which they traced to the pole connection.
• A Kensington owner recalled an earlier model popping back up after 60mph winds rather than being damaged.
• A Savanna DL owner added roof and wall poles for windier weather.

My advice is to fit every pole supplied for your size, add extra roof poles on larger awnings, use storm straps where available, peg thoroughly, and take it down if severe weather is forecast. If you pitch somewhere exposed, tell us before you order.

What size caravan awning do I need?

Your awning size comes from your caravan’s A-measurement, the length of the awning rail. Sizes 15 to 18 (1000cm to 1100cm) are where most of our sales sit, and size 15 tends to be the first to sell out. We have collections for size 14, size 15, size 16, size 17 and size 18 caravan awnings.

An awning carpet makes a big difference. We include a free carpet with selected awnings and sell them separately too. Check the fit on deeper models such as the Esteemed Air, where one owner needed a specific matching carpet. Inner tents and annexes add sleeping space. Can I leave a caravan awning up all season?

Yes, if it’s designed for it. The Atlantis DL, Buckingham DL and Savanna DL are seasonal awnings built for long stays. Touring awnings generally aren’t, so check the manufacturer’s guidance.

Do I need two people to put up an awning?

I’d always recommend it, especially for larger sizes. Owners of both poled and air awnings told me feeding the awning into the rail is much easier with two.

Is a poled or air awning better?

Poled awnings are more traditional and often easier to handle. Air awnings pitch faster but are heavier. See the type table above.
